Mission
The Silk Road Business Conference is presented by BEDC (The Business and Economic Development Center).BEDC strives for the sustainable development of the small and medium enterprise sector of the Caucasus.
Goal
The long term goal of BEDC focuses on institution building by assisting entrepreneurs in establishing and strengthening their business. We provide guidance until they are able to cope with internal and external problems themselves.

Objectives
The primary objectives are supporting the creation of a healthy SME (small to medium size enterprise) sector and improving the economic performance of existing SMEs. We also assist the business operations of foreign enterprises engaged in market entry and ongoing business in the Caucasus through a wide range of services including:

- Identifying new business opportunities
- Searching for foreign business partners for Caucasian companies including potential buyers and suppliers, requests of products and services, offers of investment/ joint venture by foreign companies.

- Facilitation of participation of Georgian companies on fairs and exhibitions, business forums, workshops, conferences, seminars and business trips to/ from Georgian companies.
- Consulting on local market access conditions
- Providing foreign business firms with information on domestic demand, competitors price quotations and foreign suppliers, as well as import and export regulations and procedures.

including political and economic environment, foreign trade policy and

One of the specilized services that BEDC offers is the preparation of sector studies. These studies are developed based on information gathered(through desk research and site visits), analysis performed and recommendations made. Sector studies are generally aimed at:
- Gaining better knowledge of the sector, including active companies, competition:
- Assessing financial and legal constraints as well as other obstacles prevailing in the sector:
- Identifying areas, niches and expansions possibilities for sector development:
- Presenting viable companies and feasible projects:
